What a fun experience! My first radio interview went really well. Brian Boger was an excellent host and the hour went by far too quickly. I appreciate the invitation to be on his show and also appreciate how comfortable he made me feel. We had never met until about 15 minutes before the show, my name having been given to him by our mutual acquaintance, Calvin of Rainy Day Pal Books in Lexington, SC.

Sunday, 9 a.m., I will be live on WVOC News, Talk and Sports Radio (560 AM, Columbia, SC). Brian Boger has invited me to be a guest on his "Talk Legal Show" to discuss my books. I am looking forward to the discussion with Brian. ~ Michael S. Pauley
Today is the first day of spring and that is always a cause for excitement. We can look forward to the weather warming up at some point in the future, daffodils are already blooming and robin redbreasts are in the yard. It is a time for new beginnings. With that in mind, I made a new start on the third book. It was already about three-fourths written, but I had set it aside for almost a year! Time to get back to it and finish what I started. Problem was, it had been so long, I had to re-read it to refresh my memory. I am now ready to take this new Spring energy and get to work! With all the celestial activities, like solar flares, eclipses, and Auroras, aliens just add to the wonders from the sky.
Happy Spring Equinox! ~ Michael S. Pauley As the holiday season approaches, I am reminded of the many things I have - A steady job, a supportive family, the opportunity to write and publish, and readers who make that writing worthwhile. Here's hoping that Hell is the Night, The Second Gomer Wars is on your list, either for giving or receiving. ~Michael S. Pauley
The recent release of my new book has completely knocked me off my normal blog posting schedule. It has also impacted my ability to watch the news, and still be objective enough to write a cogent blog posting. Other events have left their mark, such as the elections, the down sizing of the military, budget crunches, and the huge expenditures of assets and national treasure on things like Ebola. I won’t sit here in judgment, since that would be contrary to my personal code. Still, it does impact my ability to maintain a sense of humor, when I realize that robbing Peter to pay Paul, is going to leave us in a position of catch up when it matters. After all, regardless of your belief in things like a peace dividend, when the rest of the world is waiting to smack you when you’re not looking, a declaration of peace is pointless. Right now the hot spots are still hot, with some getting even hotter. In the Ukraine, a cease fire is in place, but it appears that the cease fire is merely a term describing limited military operations. Starting there and glancing around the globe, you see everything from separatist votes in Spain to more genocidal behavior in Africa. The alliances, discussions, and confusion run rampant all around the Pacific Rim, and we are in a “Pacific Shift.” All of this is supposed to be done on a budget, where peoples’ lives are impacted. The cuts in the officer corps in the Army are a prime example of such thinking. I just hope that something like a Gomer doesn’t show up anytime soon, otherwise, we’ll be relegated to responding with rusty paper clips and Boy Scouts. ~ Michael S. Pauley
While I do not have an exact date yet, the manuscript is going to the publishers this week. There are still cover choices to finalize and some other small details to work out, but things are moving along and there should be some more concrete news soon. I know I am ready to send this baby off into the world. I can only hope you are as excited about its arrival! ~Michael S. Pauley
We are another step closer to having the sequel out. The publisher should have it in a few days, although there are lots of details, like cover art, to be decided. The manuscript is getting a final read-through and then it will be time to send this baby into the world. ~Michael S. Pauley
Aside from the book coming out in October, I still have my other obligations in life. For example, I’m still a Husband, Dad, Son, and a “grand pa,” and with those positions comes a certain level of daily consternation and reflection. Then there is the day job as a lawyer, which requires patience, and tolerance. (Mostly tolerance, since I’m exposed to some pretty extreme stupid on any given day.) Combine all of this together, and you begin to realize that there just aren’t enough hours in any given day to get all these things accomplished. Especially if you toss in things like writing a book, or watching world events as part of your doing research. For example, a lot happened while the first chapter took center stage on this blog. We’ve lost a comedic genius, a stellar actress, and even Mr. Spock lost the T’Ping of his life. The Ukraine is as dicey/sporty as ever, while in Iraq things have wavered from bad to worse and back to just bad. I have chosen not to interrupt things on the blog with any commentary on these topics, not because I don’t care or that my book was more important, but simply because of the time limitations. I will attempt to bring things back to a more normal pace, but hell, who are we kidding. Right now, like billions of others on this planet, we do what we can with what we’ve got, and so within my time constraints, I will do my best. ~ Michael S. Pauley
The first chapter of Book 2 has been added to the website on its own page. You can find it under 'Buy the Book' as a drop-down. ~Michael S. Pauley
I sincerely hoped you enjoyed the first chapter of my new book. The plan, which of course is always subject to change, is to have the book released in early to mid October of this year. Naturally, you’ll be hearing more about the release date as we get closer, and odds are pretty good that by the time it gets released, you’ll be somewhat tired of my having posted about it. Still, it is a necessary evil that I start mentioning all of this, since that is what Authors do when they have a book coming out. Be patient, it is coming, I promise! ~ Michael S. Pauley
